Qatar- Côte d'IvoireRelations


  • Diplomatic relations between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire were established on July 29, 1994, at the level of non-resident ambassadors.
  • The Embassy of the State of Qatar in Monrovia, Liberia, covered the Republic of Cote d'Ivoire, and the Embassy of Cote d'Ivoire in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, covered the State of Qatar.
  • In 2018, it was decided to appoint His Excellency Ambassador Jaber Jarallah Al-Marri, as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Qatar to the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire.
  • In the same year, His Excellency Ambassador Cisse Abdelkarim was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire to the State of Qatar.
  • The Embassy of the State of Qatar took office in Abidjan on November 23, 2018,
  • His Excellency Jaber Jarallah Al Marri presented his credentials to His Excellency Alassane Ouattara, President of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire on January 4, 2019 with residence in Abidjan.
  • The Embassy of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire was inaugurated in Doha on 01/29/2019.
  • Bilateral relations between the two countries were characterized by the exchange of visits to the campuses of the two countries, where His Highness the Emir of the country, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, paid an official visit to Abidjan in December 2017, and His Excellency President Alassane Ouattara, President of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire made two official visits to Doha in 2013 and 2018.
  • These mutual visits resulted in the signing of agreements and memoranda of understanding between the two countries.
  • Memorandum of Understanding between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs.
  • Agreement on economic, commercial and technical cooperation.
  • Memorandum of Understanding between the General Civil Aviation Authority of the State of Qatar and the General Civil Aviation Authority of Côte d'Ivoire

Investment relations between the two countries

  • The State of Qatar made its first investment in the oil field in Côte d'Ivoire, whereby Qatar Petroleum signed an agreement with Total to acquire a 45% stake in the offshore blocks CI-705 and CI-706 located in the Ivorian-Tano basin off the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire. The acquisition of a stake in these two blocks is an important addition to Qatar Petroleum's lover's portfolio in Africa.
